We had quite an exciting start to 2011 with a new baby boy! We spent the 1st day of the New Year just the three of us for the first time. It was a nice day just to hang out at home. We missed Aunt Kelsy today! Daddy & Austin watched Rocky for the first time!

January 5th, we went to the doctor for a check up. You weight 6 lb. 10 ounces! The next morning, we woke up, and you had a cold! It makes me so sad to hear you cough. We had to hold you all day & night. You & Daddy were both sick all weekend.... not a fun weekend!?!
We went to the doctor on the 10th, and she said you just had daddy's cold. You weighed 7 lbs! It was daddy's first day of school, so you and mommy hung out all day!

We went back to the doctor on the 14th for you 4 week check-up. You weighed 7 lb 4 oz and you were 21 inches long! I can't believe you are 4 weeks old already.... still seems like you just arrived yesterday!

Hello pretty brown eyes.... still don't know what color his eyes are going to be!?! Somedays they look blue and others brown. They have a blue ring around them, and then they are brown on the inside sometimes. Keeps us on our toes guessing!
Grandma came and spent the week with Austin! Mommy went back to school on the 18th when he was 4 weeks old. It was tough, and it was a day that I dreaded for 4 weeks!! It was so nice to have Grandma come and stay with him, so I didn't have to do the daycare thing yet. Made me feel much better!
We took a walk, and bundled the baby up in his little winter suit!

January 19th, off for Austin's first walk.....
Mommy survived her 1st week at school..... we even got a date night before grandma left! :) He started watching his hands move this week and watch his toys. On Saturday, he had his first smile at Grandma & mommy! Daddy went snowboarding this weekend, so his first smile was on Sunday!
He spent his first day with a babysitter today. Another tough day for mommy! He did really good, and he slept for 5 1/2 hours last night.... ok, we had to hold him, but it was still 5 1/2 hours!
He had a week full of new people.... on Monday & Tuesday his new babysitter, Iris, came to keep him. Then Wednesday, he had his other new babsitter, Mary, come and keep him. And Uncle Bill came Wednesday afternoon to hang out with Austin til we got out of school! We got to the 6 week mark on Thursday, so he had his first 2 days of daycare this week. Quite the week for baby & Mom! It's a true blessing that we have such wonderful family close by to help us!!! I don't know how we'd get through it otherwise. His daycare ladies fought over him the first morning. He is the youngest and smallest by far! The next youngest child is 3 months old.... and they are so big! We better enjoy our little man while we can! :)

Studying with Daddy! Austin's gonna be the smartest 1 year old ever.... he'll already have a degree in business and nuclear medicine! :) Tough to balance some days, but we're getting through it. He is adjusting to daycare well. He will be going to daycare 2 days a week and a babysitter 3 days a week! It's nice to know he's at home a few days a week and away from all those germs.... his little nose stays stuffy!
